The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston was established as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2006.

The organization is the first foundation in Houston to provide non-governmental funding to Houston’s firefighters. The Foundation is dedicated to upholding our pledge of providing Houston’s bravest men and women with the necessary funding, tools, technology, and equipment so that they may be able to best serve and protect the citizens of Houston. FFFH will also provide financial assistance as needed to families of fallen firefighters who have perished in the line of duty. Building and maintaining the best fire department in the nation requires supplemental non-governmental funding, and The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston has answered that call.

With ever-increasing demands from virtually every sector of the community, Houston’s municipal budget has seldom adequately funded more than the fire department’s bare necessities. City Hall’s priorities have been and remain keeping fire house doors open, maintaining and training a sufficient number of firefighters for Houston’s ever-increasing population, and providing the necessary support structure to enable firefighters to respond in a timely and efficient manner. Unfortunately, recent advances in technology and new equipment demands have too frequently fallen further down the priority list. As a result, these demands rarely receive the funding and attention they deserve. The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston is committed to filling the gap between the needs of Houston Fire Department and the limits of government spending. Our extremely low overhead enables us to immediately turn nearly ever dollar collected toward the mounting needs of the Houston Fire Department.

We as Houstonians rely on firefighters as our first responders. For more than 150 years, they have answered the call with their indisputable commitment to save lives, and in the process, kept our community and loved ones safe. The Fire Fighters Foundation of Houston has and will continue to work with the Houston Fire Department to determine their shortfalls and will assess their critical funding needs on a regular basis. A strong working relationship with local firefighting commanders and leaders has been formed, and their guidance and expertise will assist in determining how The Fire Fighter’s Foundation of Houston’s funds will be prioritized and disbursed.

Through generous donations from the public, in 2017, The Firefighters Foundation of Houston was able to purchase three Zodiac Rescue Boats which proved essential during Hurricane Harvey in the rescue so many people. Our Foundation exists solely to raise funds that are used to purchase much-needed life-saving equipment such as these boats. It is up to all of us to help the brave men and women of the Houston Fire Department in their everyday rescues.
Please make a donation today in any amount to help this effort. Ninety-five cents of every dollar given goes directly to purchase the equipment that just might save your life, a loved one or a neighbor.
